Nashville Therapy Group

Mari Swann, TLMFT

Marriage and Family Therapist at the Nashville Office

You already have the resources within you. You may just need a little bit of help to uncover them.

Hi, my name is Mari, and I’d be honored to work with you! Therapy with me is warm, creative, and safe. I’m sensitive to diverse learning styles, and my background in visual art allows me to get across abstract concepts in tangible ways. This might look like drawing our discussions visually on a board, using art therapy, experiential interventions, reading recommendations or talk therapy. There are so many problem narratives in our society that make us feel stuck, bad about ourselves, and unable to move forward. In the therapy room, I will walk alongside you and empower you to discover what else can be true.

Clinical Experience

I’ve worked with individuals, couples, and families in private practice, academic, and institutional settings. I am trained in art therapy, play therapy, EMDRIA Approved Basic EMDR, as well as Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Level 1.

Clinical Specialties

I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and couples. I specialize in couples who are presenting with pursuer/distancer dynamics, attachment issues, codependency, enmeshment, core differences, and perpetual problems. My clinical areas of interest include relational and marital issues, contemporary relationships, family of origin concerns, attachment wounds, issues of self-worth, existential issues, spirituality, faith deconstruction, social anxiety, general anxiety, trauma, depression, premarital counseling, discernment counseling and intimacy issues.
