Our Creative Specialists

David Harb, LMFT

I grew into my calling as a therapist by way of a decade spent working in the creative arts. I remain passionate about artistic expression, and I provide specialized services for creatives and entrepreneurs ready to get inspired and thrive. Those in creative industries experience a unique set of issues that sometimes make life feel chaotic and put pressure on close relationships. My background in the arts affords me special insight into the stressors faced by artists and creative professionals, making me uniquely positioned to help them thrive, find inspiration, and tackle the specific challenges they face in life, business, and art.

Ashley Lanaux, LPC-MHSP (temp)

Before becoming a mental health counselor, I worked in the music industry for 15+ years as a publicist communicating between the artists and the media. Finding a therapist that understands the demands of artists and creative professionals can seem like you are looking for a needle in a haystack. Until now. I understand not only the demands the industry places on artists and creative professionals, but also how that can affect you physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Often times individuals engage in a number of unhealthy coping behaviors that make matters worse. Together we can explore expectations you put on yourself, expectations of others, unhealthy coping mechanisms, unresolved trauma, co-occurring disorders, and even creative mental blocks.

Working with artists to uncover the experiences that influence their artistry, whether good or bad and allowing the space to grow that expression is profound. As your therapist I want to be able to support whatever current or past crisis maybe standing in the way of fulfilling any professional or personal progression. Artists of all caliber are welcome to expose their power through creativity, and whatever way I can assist is what I plan to put my all into.

There is no such thing as a “work-life balance,” only who you are and how you show up at any given time and in any given circumstance. Balance implies the time spent on work and the time spent on living life are weighted perfectly even at all times, which is impossible! I can help you reframe from a work-life balance mindset to one of a work-life ratio. Whether you are starting a business, own a business, help manage and run a business, or work within a business setting in any capacity, you need not sacrifice your mental and physical health for the health of your business. As a prior service member with experience leading teams, and having earned my MBA, I am uniquely positioned to bring what I have learned in those environments into the therapeutic setting and context. I would love to work with you in order to help you operate at your highest proficiency. Connect with me today!

Kristin Lagan, M.S.

It is important for artist to recognize that their ideas flow from an active engagement with the deeper hidden elements around all of us in this life. Those with a creative/abstract lens to our world would benefit from having a therapist that can meet you in those spaces. As your therapist, I want to help you overcome barriers to your artistic expression and success. Lots of people who engage in this space need someone who will walk with them into those dark corners of their minds. We will address such things as self-doubt, lack of motivation, anxiety and depression, and balancing the demands of your career with a personal life. Being a creative takes courage and lots of “thick skin” is cultivated in managing criticism and rejection. Let’s start the journey today and explore those creative caves of the mind together.

Chad Douglas Johnson, TLMFT

Art was my first calling, ever since I could hold a crayon. It took me through undergraduate studies in graphic design, to working in creative roles for several Nashville area ad agencies and nonprofits, then later going all in as a freelance designer, and eventually moving into more organizational leadership roles. Now, art intersects with life as I live out my second calling to help people find purpose and meaning in their lives.

As a creative professional, you know art is not what you do, but who you are. It’s how you think, how you feel, and how you see the world. You also understand creatives are not immune to life’s surprises. The everyday challenges of work and relationships can cause us to become stuck and uninspired, leading to stress and eventual burnout. My background has equipped me to work with creative and business professionals of all types. I would love to hear your story, understand your unique challenges, and help you develop creative solutions for achieving the life you want.

There is a strong connection between assisting in creativity and assisting in the processing of personal growth and change. For those impacted by current crises or painful past experiences, creativity can play an important role in survival, resilience, restoration, and recovery. In turn, creativity and confidence flow more freely when inner obstacles and blocks are dissolved. Ultimately we are all artists, whether our art is a recognized discipline, or a way of showing up for ourselves and in the world. I combine therapy with philosophy to serve the personal, professional, and creative growth of folks in any life stage, field or discipline.
